Here are some things to keep in mind when writing a review or conducting an interview. Use material published on this site as an example of good writing or suitable interview questions. Contact editor@pixelinspectors.com for further assistance.

Reviews

  • Pick a website or designer that greatly interests or inspires you. This will make the writing a fun and rewarding experience.
  • Articles should be anywhere from 300 to 3,000 words in length.
  • All material should be original and well written.
  • Personal responses to the work are encouraged. Don't be shy to make bold statements and take your thinking deeper than those who may have written before you. No viewpoint or idea is wrong. Just be sure you ideas are logically argued and backed up by specific examples.
  • Content should include but not be limited to:
    1. Description of the site.
    2. Interpretation of form, content, meaning, or purpose.
    3. Judgment of value, importance, and success of the work.
    4. Personal reflections or reactions to viewing the site.
    5. Relationship of work to the broader scope of web design, its future, and other arts.
  • Please also attach any screenshots or other images that may help to illustrate or add interest to your writing.
  • Please cite any sources used for quotations and/or ideas used in your review.
  • Don't be afraid to have fun with it and be funny if appropriate.

Interviews

  • Should be conducted by you or someone you know who has given permission for publication.
  • Web designers are generally nice guys. If you email someone who's work you admire and tell them you'd like to do an email or phone interview to be published on pixelinspectors.com, they will usually respond favorably.
  • Questions should be pertinent to the designers work, and should try and shed light on their background, inspiration, process, etc.
  • Answers do not have to be long, but rather concise and insightful.
